- gmaps wv is out of development for 4 years now and doesn’t work very well anymore.
There is actually active fork of gmaps webview, which works fine (for now anyway): https://github.com/woheller69/maps

This fork is active and fixes stuff if something is broken, so at the very least it will be alive a little longer. Last release was 5.0, 2 months ago, with fixes for street view.
Meh, not really. It is absolutely not dead for my usecase, for example. You still have streetview to some extend, still more full information about some places compared to OpenStreetMaps, photos, reviews of places, sometimes more correct pathways. So not exactly dead project.
It will become dead once google will entirely block anonymous access ¯_(ツ)_/¯
Yes, I am aware of that, but until google completely make not possible to use their maps anonymously — something akin to gmaps webview will have its use.
